A woman, Keri, and her 7 year old son, Jason, were killed in Manorville 2 years ago when their vehicle was broadsided by a van travelling southbound where the speed limit is 55 miles per hour. Although several people were fatally injured and multiple investigations were conducted, the grieving family could not find any solace in closure. The police were unable to conclude which vehicle was at fault and defied traffic rules which resulted in this accident. A 27-year-old woman was killed several months ago when she drove into a parked tractor trailer near exit 39 east of Glen Cove Road. Her crashed two-door infiniti was only one of the accidents that occurred that weekend. Due to a medical problem that caused her to become incapacitated, a 68-year-old Brooklyn was found dead after she drove off the road in Carle Place. It was later revealed that she had suffered a cardiac arrest and was pronounced dead only after multiple attempts were made to revive her. No one else was involved in this accident. Reigning Miss Washington, Brittney Henry, packed her car with her crown and gowns the night before but woke up to her missing vehicle along with her jewels and gowns. Although the car was recovered a few miles away from home, over $10,000 worth of belongings that came along with her title remained stolen. Statistics show that a car is stolen every 33 seconds in the U.S. Five tips to prevent a vehicle from being stolen are: 1) Don't leave vehicle on and unattended. 2) Get a car with an anti-theft device or alarm. 3) Don't leave items out in the open. 4) Roll your windows up and always lock the doors. 5) Park in a well-lit area.
