Organization Structure
An effective organization structure contains within it the ability to sustained growth through execution of corporate strategies and goals by following laid down systems and procedures. In the constantly changing operating environment the key factors that would strengthen the growth trajectory are:
- connect with branches and
- connect with customers
Over the years, circle offices have become bigger with more number of branches that make these offices difficult to establish proper connect with the branches and liaise with government offices at district/taluk/panchayat levels. The present day organizational structure needs to be more agile and responsive to the customers' demand and corporate objectives.
The major reorganization of administrative set up in the bank was undertaken in 2006 by adopting a 3-tier structure, comprising head office, circle offices and branches. The idea of moving to a 4-tier organizational structure is to ensure the Bank's sustained growth trajectory and enable it to compete effectively with the industry and the peers. The 4-tier structure, comprises head office, circle offices, regional offices and branches.
Reasons that drive change in the structure
Bank has opened 1027 branches during 2013-14, 928 branches during 2014-15 and 133 branches during 2015-16. Due to this substantial expansion of branches, circles offices have become bigger with more number of branches. As a result, circles are having more branches under them, rendering close monitoring/control and business development difficult. Circles are not in a position to interact closely with the important customers and branches on a regular basis, leading to impediment in business growth. To overcome this, the bank has decided to move from the 3-tier system into a 4-tier system.
