The effects of bullying
Bullying is more of an issue now than it has ever been. Many people do not understand just how bad it has become. The effects of bullying can be split into two categories: Long term and short term. Long term meaning this person could be dealing with this for the rest of their life and short term meaning what happens right then and there. There are three types of bullying -Cyber, physical, verbal, and etc.- Cyber bullying being the worst of the three. With cyber bullying a bully can be a whole lot more rude than they would be face to face. Physical bullying is the second worst of the two, verbal bullying is the one that stays with people more than any of the other. There are many effects of bullying including self harming, suicidal thoughts, and depression.
When most people think of effects, they think of the consequences -good and bad- that happen soon after, not say, ten years down the road. The effects of bullying on a child’s life can be devastating long after the bullying stops. Even a child who is only bullied once in his or her life can suffer long-lasting effects (“Effects of bullying”). Bullying can cause depression and low self esteem, both of which can stay with someone for life. Most bullying affects a child’s self esteem. These thoughts can stay with a person for the rest of their life. When they go to apply for a job, they might completely bomb it because they went into the interview already believing that they were not good enough because that's what they grew up hearing all their life. So this bullying can and will stay with a person all their life.
Most short term effects include drug abuse and self harming. Families of these people tend to worry about the child and then that just pushes them further and further away. People who are bullied push themselves away from all the people that love them. They begin to think about what the bully says to them, and then start to think that it is true. Once they start to do this they may begin abusing drugs or harming themselves (like cutting). These can not only hurt the person that has been bullied but also all of those around the bullied. When a person gets to the point where they cut themselves and abusing drugs, that is the farthest gone that they can be. They start to waste their life away, start failing classes, and losing more and more friends, which in turn just results in more depression. Once they start doing this they have most likely already thought about committing suicide, if they have not already attempted. These are some
