Emily Johnson is a normal, privileged 15 year old girl. Her parents just broke the news to her that they are moving to a new city. Emily's parents knew that the move would be hard on Emily but they never expected that. Once they move, Emily starts acting different and keeps secrets from her parents.
The Johnsons were the picture perfect family in their old town of Owensboro Kentucky. But when her father's job requires them to move to Evansville Kentucky, Emily was determined to start over and re-invent herself. She had always been the girl everyone wanted to be like. Smart, pretty, and belonged to a wealthy family. But in the new town, Emily just wanted to blend in and be like everybody else.
Ever since the Johnson's arrived in Evansville, Emily has noticed something strange. She felt like she was being watched and that something or someone was always following her. She did not want to tell her new friends because she didn't want them to think she was weird. Emily was also afraid to tell her parents because she thought they would not believe her. So, as time goes on, Emily keeps this to herself and acts like everything is going well in her new town.
A few months later, Emily starts to notice a woman. She notices that this young, beautiful woman has shown up in a lot of the same places that Emily goes. The woman pays no attention to Emily so she thinks that she is just being paranoid.
One day, Emily comes home from school and finds that her parents are talking quietly in their bedroom. Emily is curious to see what they are talking about so she knocks on their door and walks in. immediately, they stop talking and go white in the face. Emily knew they were hiding something from her she just didn't know what it was. Emily confronts them about all of their sketchy meetings and conversations. She was shocked when her parents told her that she was adopted when she was a baby. Receiving this information, Emily is determined to find her birth mother.
Emily continues so feel like she is being watched and often finds the pretty women looking at her but then quickly looks away when Emily looks at her.
Emily does some research on her real mother and starts to get leads on where she is living. While Emily is looking up information on her mom, she stumbles upon a recent picture. Emily knows that she has seen this woman before. She soon realizes that the picture of her mother looks exactly like the woman who has been following her.
The next day, Emily spots the women sitting at the table next to her in the library. Emily decides to take a chance and confront the women to see if she is her mother.
The women admit to following Emily and that she is her birth mother. She explains to Emily that she had been following her because she had a gut feeling that she was her daughter but wanted to make sure before she confronted Emily. She told Emily that she gave her up for adoption because
