-The Enron Corporation had what was said to be
over 101 billion dollars in 2000.
-Their financial position began to be terrible because
of creatively planned accounting fraud.
-They filed for bankruptcy protection in the south district
of New York in late 2001.
-Enron emerged from bankruptcy in 2004 and they
are still recovering.
-Now they are renamed to Enron Creditors Recovery
Corporation due to this terrible
bankruptcy.
-This was one of the biggest and most complex bankruptcy
cases in U.S. history.
This all occured in the year of 2001 and they got out of bankruptcy in 2004.
-Weil, Gotshal, and Manges was Enrons bankruptcy counsel.
-They were the people that were involved in this huge, complex
bankruptcy case.
-This was such a big issue because of the fact that Enron is
such a huge company that won Americas Most Innovative
Company for 6 years in a row.
-They are one of the worlds leading electricity, natural gas,
communication, pulp, and paper industries.
-If they were to become bankrupt forever, that would
be a complete tragedy.
-The Millions of workers and people that are involved
with Enron were and still are effected because of this.
-This takes the power, gas, communication etc. away
from those millions of costomers.
-A bankruptcy for one of the worlds largest corporations
easily can effect millions of people.
-The Enron Corporation was based in Houston, Texas.
-The bankruptcy case then took place in N.Y. where everything
happened passed the file for bankruptcy protection.
