We hear the word "hero" and think men with armors and swords, but hero quality can also come from cartoons. Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko created Avatar The Last Airbender. This is a fictional world were the avatar, Aang, who must bring peace to the world by defeating the fire lord who declared war on the other nations. Aang follows the tradition epic hero cycle because he has super-natural powers such as manipulating the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air, however Aang has a resurrection also restores peace back to the world.

Aang follows the traditional epic hero cycle because he has supernatural power and he goes on a quest. He can manipulate the elements. Aang can move and control fire, air, water, and earth. He goes around the world and looking for teachers to help him master the elements. He also has to defeat the fire lord. These supernatural powers and his quest make him an epic hero.

Secondly, Aang is an epic hero because he has a resurrection. Aang dies in the Earth Kingdom when Azula, the fire lord's daughter shoots lighting on his back which kills him. Katara Aang's friend brings him back to life. She uses her healing powers and special water from the sprit oasis. Then Aang comes back to life. Even though he becomes alive but it was still a bad scene.

Lastly, Aang is an epic hero because he regains his rightful place as the avatar. He defeats the fire lord at the end of the book. It was the Firelord how made the Avatar scared of him, but now the Firelord was scared of him because Aang because really powerful. Avatar's victory brings peace to the world and he regains his honor and respect back. Aang follows the traditional epic hero when the restitution came and everyone recognizes him as the avatar.

This shows that a cartoon can also have heroes even thought they recognized as one. This easy shows that you should never fight or start a war with someone. This is only going to hurt you and the other at the end. Always try to discuss your problems out. Never the less Aang is and always be an epic hero because he goes on a quest, has a resurrection, and has supernatural powers.
