The removal of the Confederate flag which is displayed on the capitol ground of several states.  The nature of this removal resort from the outpour of grief after a racist gunman killed nine African American last week during bible study at a historic church in Charleston. This incident quickly turned into a political issue. In 1954 after the ruling of Brown vs the Board of Education, South Carolina replace their state flag with the Confederate flag was believe to be a gesture to be the state reaction to desegregation. Confederate flag is perceive to be a symbol not of slavery but liberty, happiness and pursuit, people must understand  that Confederate war which was caused by slavery also entailed  the destruction  of an exercise in self- destruction. Many politician avoided taking a position from flag removal there have already been removal issue. Because racial issues which goes all way back to 2000.In 2000 the lawmaker came to an agreement to remove Confederate flag from the capitol dome and immediately place it across the street while also adding a monument for the African American would change the racial motive.

The decision was based upon a more ethical reason. Many politician felt as if they did not need a symbol that is portrayed as racist. It all reflected back to alleged shooter of the nine African American who had posed for a photographer with the confederate battle flag and embraced a racist philosophy. Invocation of the Confederate flag were supported by the Confederacy itself. Many people believe this move is unethical because it is infringe on the first amendment. The historical flag has been used by so many hatred groups. As politicians still understand the historical significance of the Confederate flag, although it still remain part of our history. The flag is believe to be inseparable from the values of the country it represented in battle. Taking the flag down is a small steps forward rebuffing that ideology? Many ideologist has given the Confederacy and it symbol exalted status as symbolization of freedom.

The flag was schedule to come down at 10 am on Friday July 10, 2015 after more than a half of century. “The flag was then taken to the state’s Confederate Relic Room to be put in a new multimillion dollar display” (Collins & Kinnard, 2015). Many veterans refused to attend the ceremony. “From Alabama to Alaska, Confederate and segregationist monuments, statues, symbols and place names are being re-examined” (Collins & Kinnard, 2015).To show no racism  was displayed at the  ceremony  two white  officer  neatly  rolled the flag up and tied  with a white ribbon  which represent peace. It was then passed off to an African American officer who marched it away which displayed the significance of their race. The removal of the flag considered to be a new era in South Carolina. An African American  politician  stated that removing  flag  sent a message  that South Carolina  is putting bigotry  behind  and embracing  all people of different nationality  in the state.
