Fate or Fortune

In the play Romeo and Juliet there are a lot of things that happen that either involves fate or fortune. Bad and good things can involve fate or fortune, but not everything is seen as fortune or fate but it does come off as it. I believe in fate, it can come in many different ways or situations but how it occurs is what makes it remarkable.

To start off in the play Romeo is an average civilian in the city of Verona, when one time at a party he meets the love of his life, Juliet Capulet. But he really didn't know she was a Capulet until after they kissed and had already fallen in love. Many people say that how Shakespeare wrote Romeo and Juliet was following fate because he allowed the readers to be a part of his characters destiny. When the story started the audience started by setting off the play, by reciting the paragraph about star crossed lovers. How Juliet met Romeo was very surprising actually, since he went to the party to see Rosaline.

Next, fate can be in the real world too. It's not just a fantasy or a dream. It can happen to everyday people. Steve Jobs for example is definitely fate; he didn't know he would become so famous and wealthy just from making apple products. While he was making the first iPhone or Mac computer he didn't know that it would soon become one of the most successful products in the world. Just a normal guy saying, "Hey lets make something today".

Lastly, since we know the outcome of the play we hope they will make different choices, even though we are aware they can not. Maybe that Romeo will arrive at the perfect time as Juliet is waking up. But the fate is sealed and now we are forced to question destiny. During the play there are omens that are already determining their fate. Is it fate when Friar Lawrence's plan to inform Romeo of Juliet's faked death is not realized due to unforeseen circumstances? Is it fate that Romeo kills himself when he does?

In conclusion fate is always there but sometimes we may never realize it until the end. Sometimes fate is in good or bad situations and can happen to good or bad people. Nobody knows everything about fate, we learn as time progresses.
