{WEEK 7}
- Reflect on the 1st quarter of Workshop II, I did learn a lot of valuable lessons, ranging from providing feedbacks to receiving them from others. Feedback skill may sound unnecessary at first. However, in any team-working situation, it plays a quite important role as being able to give clear and effective feedback to others is vital to keep the group process running efficiently. Additionally, feedback should be about behavior and idea, not personality. Therefore, I should never comment on the aspect of personality, intelligence since it may cause offence. Moreover, I have become more open-minded to other’s feedback, also learned to manage self-emotion since not everyone is skilled at giving feedback. Thoughout the time I worked with other team members, I found out that great ideas and high responsibility came from everybody, so it is not any single individual doing all the tasks for group projects, which is good news for future co-operation. About personal limitation, I feel that I have always struggled with the language barrier. Since I have only studied Japanese for 3 months, it is really hard for me to clearly understand what Japanese members are discussing. Therefore, I started to regret that I did not learn Japanese before coming to Japan, still it is never too late to learn something new as long as I put time and effort for it.

2. Based on what I have achieved and improved in the 1st quarter of Workshop II, I will try to utilize them as much as possible contribute to the whole group. In particular, after finishing a group meeting, I will ask each member to write down their opinions about the efficiency of that day’s meeting and frankly share them with others. Then one by one will raise suggestion for the improvement of next meeting as well as listen to the feedback from others. By doing this several times, I strongly believe that not just me but every member will improve their own feedback skill naturally, yet efficiently. And about the language problem, I am sure that the only way to overcome it is to study hard everyday and practice speaking Japanese in daily conversation with Japanese floor-mate. I understand that language can not be learned in one day but hopefully, by following these steps, I can become more confident in Japanese, simultaneously, gain more experiences in working with people from different backgrounds.(171 words)
