Fighting
There is always one question someone could ask me, and I would be able to answer it in a heartbeat. Who would I consider the one person that has had a significant impact in my life, with no hesitation I would say, my mom.
My mom is a single parent of my younger brother and I, and I have always lived with just my mom because so many things have happened during my life gone on. I have not had a father figure here in my life since my parent's divorced in October of 2002, so my mom has always sacrificed for my brother and me. About one month ago something big happened that really changed our lives. A man my mom once was in love with and was married to, hurt me a lot, by yelling and cursing at my mom, and then he went as far as to hitting me and coming after me, was my step dad. On July 24th my step dad ended it all; he then was no longer allowed to be around "us "for what he had done to me. I had always been scared of him, but it has taught me to be strong and be the person I am today. Somehow through it all my mom has learned how to fight back and be strong as a person, a mother, and a positive role model. When things got worse it seemed to have a financial impact because now it was just my mom. Now with all the financial problems it has been real hard for me to get a scholarship for me to play select soccer, I know my mom has really been fighting through this because I know that it is not cheap for me to play select soccer. My mom has shown me a lot through these hard times. I will always remember what she fought for in life, and how she kept us living and surviving even through the bad times and the good.
What my mom has been through, and me being in an abusive situation which was done by the man that was not even my father, has made me realize why I really want to go to college. I want an education where I can fight for people's lives, kids, women, and even some men. I have seen it all while sitting through court with my mom, and it has helped me learn more on wanting to become a Criminal Lawyer. No women or kids in this world should be abused at any time or for any reason therefore I want to fight for them and help save them. Just like my mom and I have fought for our lives!
