School has always been difficult for me, especially when making friends. I first met Joe in my sixth grade history class. I guess the teacher thought that by putting me the quietest student in the class with Joe the class clown, somehow Joe would be quiet in class. Since that day Joe and I became friends. It was difficult to understand how two very unlike people especially teen boy can become so close.

I'm one of the most shy and timid persons you would ever meet. I'm the guy you would see at the back of the classroom seating alone and always trying to avoid participating in class. When it comes to oral presentations I would always rather get a failing grade on the presentation that to stand up in front of the class and talk. On the other had, Joe does not know the definition of shy. He is always looking for and opportunity to talk in class. Always raising his hand, asking questions and even talking we he doesn't suppose to. Unlike me, his always getting involve in as many activities as he can like the student body, drama class, art, band, newspaper etc...

Another big difference between Joe and I is our choice of apparel. I'm the type of guy that doesn't care what other people think of my choice of clothe. I wear what I like, even if others think is unconventional. However, Joe always has to have the latest Jordan shoes, Jordan shorts and Jordan shirts. His always switching out his one month old clothe with new clothes. He rarely wares the same outfit mainly because his worry of what other people might think.

When it come to education I rarely try my best in school, as long as I'm passing the class I figure there is no reason on doing more work. I've never been a fan of homework. I always do my assignments' at the last minute, which always makes assignments pile up on me and I rarely try my best on them. On the contrary, Joe is a straight A student. He begins his assignment as soon as possible and he always tries his hardest in all the classes. Unlike me, he stays after school and studies for his test.

It's hard to believe how two really different persons can become best friends. But maybe that's why Joe and I became friends? Maybe we became friends because we both liked how very different we are. Personally Joe has been a big role model in my life; he has showed me responsibility and has taught me to never settle for less. I only wish I had the same impact on his life as he did on mine.
