Speaking, within my training I would ensure that all verbal communication is clear and concise, whilst encouraging the group to also verbally communicate in a polite manner. Listening, use of training videos are used to provide materials for trainers to listen to and to understand at a set pace. Reading, course handouts and PowerPoint is used to provide material for the learners to read and understand. Writing, Gapped handouts and workbooks are used to ensure that learners have an opportunity to write and record their own answers. Communicating effectively, by implementing all of the above, all communication will be clear and understandable, instilling learner confidence in the trainer and in their own ability to communicate.

Mathematics:

Within my training I ensure I use a range of mathematical concepts especially to express accident statistics. This gives me the confidence and capability to use maths to both problem solve and to deliver mathematical data to learners. Many of the courses I teach involve the interpretation of graphs and charts, the learners have the opportunity to record their answer thus showing evidence of learning and understanding.

ICT:

As I train I always ensure that ICT levels are suitable and sufficient, I also ensure that I maintain my own ICT skills to be able to deliver current and relevant information. I ensure equipment is checked and maintained to prevent a poor performance. This allows me to be confident and capable in its use so that I can meet varied needs of the learner.

During our instructor training courses the students are expected to deliver a 10-15 min presentation on their chosen subject. As part of the criteria they are expected to deliver part of their presentation within a power-point format. As a training prior to this lesson I ensure all learners receive sufficient training to give a basic presentation. I also make myself available too learners who require further support outside of the course structure.
