Part I: Media Relevancy
Read each statement.
Write a 100-word summary explaining how the chosen media piece supports the statement. Include reference citations.
- Find a media piece—article, video, presentation, song, or other—that recognizes the fundamental concepts of chemistry in biology. Include the link or reference citation for the piece and describe how it helped you better understand how fundamental concepts of chemistry affect biology.
Fundamental concepts of Chemistry affects Biology:
After researching different websites and looking at a couple of books from local schools in my area I have chosenwww.chem4kids that breaks down the fundamentals where it helps me to better understand how chemistry and biology go hand in hand. The "Atoms Around Us" (1997-2015) website states atoms are building blocks to make up molecules that build matter using different elements. Some of the everyday common elements we deal with are shown in image below. These all are made of atoms of different elements that become different molecules we deal with daily.

This video explained a little to understand the energy of Metabolism functions cells I understand that the more energy used the more cells that have to be replaced and without cells nothing will move if very little. I understand that there are different kinds of energy that come from cells some are like quick burst of energy the others are more stable and last a lot longer. All in all kind of still bewildered with energy metabolism of cells.
- Find a media piece—article, video, presentation, song, or other—that compares the structures and functions of different cell types. Include the link or reference citation for the piece and describe how it helped you better compare structures and functions of different cell types.
Different types of cells found in the human body are Muscle, skin, nerve, blood, and bone. Muscle is structured as elongated and tampered on each end and functions the movement of parts of the body. Skin is flat brick or honeycomb fit closely to form continuous protective layer. Nerves are long branched fibers ran to the main part of the cell that carry signals from one part of the body to another. blood cells are thin disc like that carry oxygen in the blood stream. Bone cell are thick mineral matrix that provide support to the body with a frame like structure.
- Find a media piece—article, video, presentation, song, or other—related to the scientific method, creating hypotheses, or designing experiments. Include the link or reference citation for the piece and describe how it helped you better understand how the scientific method is used to create hypotheses and experiments.
Christmas lights we love to look at the decorated houses every year. This is a very good example of experimenting and use of the scientific method. Every year right after Thanksgiving families pull the decorations out of the attic or storage with great uncertainty. First, they ask the question "Are these lights still good ," in their own heads. They refer to a family member, usually the one that had to much eggnog and E&J, if they remember if the lights worked the previous year. With a shrug of confidence they march on and start hanging them on the eve of the house. As they pass the first wall outlet they plug the lights in. As they turn all on for three seconds and back out. You quickly search for the one that is out, with a tug on the cord they flash again with a great false hope. still quickly checking they start to flash repeatedly and confirming the eggnogger's guess we inform the rest of the jolly souls the lights work and are flashers.
