Gallipoli

1. The Australians are portrayed as young men who are strong, courageous, have a willingness to keep going against the odds and are determined to fight for their country but are inexperienced. They were also shown as representing values of Australian patriotism, mateship and loyalty to Britain.

All of these values were shown throughout the movie, but one scene in particular I thought demonstrated these values, the final scene. Even when waves of soldiers had just been killed before they could even get more than a few metres from the trench, the remaining soldiers were ordered to keep attacking. Archie who was one of those soldiers, leapt from the trench and sprinted towards the Turks without his gun as he knew he was going to die, he demonstrated courage and bravery.

3. The role that women play in the film was to nurse the wounded soldiers. They were unable to contribute to the war and were restricted to voluntary work such as knitting socks for soldiers or working for the Red Cross.

5. The Anzac Legend is a representation of the Australians in war, the way in which the soldiers thought and wrote of their experiences, the powerful legacy that was left. The legend comprises the stories of incredible bravery and mateship which helped the soldiers survive the horrors of Gallipoli.

6. Anzac Day is considered to be so significant because on the 25th of April, 1915 Australia went into battle for the first time as an independent nation. It also became an important part of Australian history because it showed how patriotic Australia was towards its mother country, Britain, and it's own country. It also showed how much they were willing to give up for the protection of their country and mother country.
