As we started this particular section of genedered sexualities and I was looking at the headings of each one, The Lust Boys by Lawson became intriguing to me. Reading the article appears to be no different than women who target wealthy men. There appears to be a double standard when it comes to men who have sex for money and women who have sex for money. The article clearly states that are not hookers or prostitutes but that they are simply "beach boys". They are there to make the woman feel good. It amazes me how the two genders are doing the same exact thing but this article or maybe even in the community that they live in can make it seem okay for the man.
On a personal note, when I was in the Navy and was stationed in Edzell, Scotland, a lot of us-meaning the single women, would travel to Dundee when we knew the submarines were coming in. We would wait patiently because we knew that the sailors had not been with a woman in approximately six months. During that time of my life, I was living on the edge and was just having fun. I knew that I would either be with on e or several of the sailors and would get paid well because they were willing to spend their money on us. We knew or thought that it would be safe because we were all in the military and we knew that our business would not be told to anyone. So if I was to divulge that type of information to others now, would they perceive me to be a whore or slut, or like the beach boys (lust boys) would I just be helping out and giving a service to our service members? I guess I would never know!
