There was this girl named Keisha whose life was tremendously dull. Her daily routine consisted of her going to school, going back home, studying and surfing the web. You see, Keisha was the anti-social type and many people considered her as a lame or shall I say a geek, so therefore, she did not have many friends and she did not even talk to guys. The biggest reason as to why she did not talk to guys was because she was not happy with the way she looked. Since she was unsure how guys would react towards her in person that is why she spent so much time on the internet making social websites and joining chat rooms. One day Keisha made an Instagram account, which is a social app that allows you to share your photos and videos with friends and others from around the world. Every time she would get into the chat rooms she would give them her Instagram name so that they could look at her pictures and some of them actually told her she was pretty but of course, some said she was ugly. By those few comments she did not know who to believe and that is the primary reason as to why she doesn't feel comfortable with her looks.
Keisha has been doing some thinking lately and she decides she wants to fit in when school starts back in the next month. After all, she is going to a new high school so her transition to becoming popular shouldn't be so bad. She doesn't always want to just get up in the morning, go to school and back home to doing nothing but studying and then sitting behind a computer screen trying to make friends she will never meet. There is only one person she can call on for help, which is her cousin Stacy. Although Stacy lives more than 200 miles away she is actually Keisha's best friend and is very popular. As her and Stacy was texting one day, she began to tell Stacy how she doesn't feel like she is pretty and that she wants to be a cool kid so that everyone will not judge her. After all, she is about to be in high school which should be the best four years of her life. Stacy is a junior in high school and ensures Keisha that not everyone is going to think she is pretty but if she wants to "popular" as she implies there are a few changes she must make. Stacy told Keisha she is coming into town in two weeks and when she comes she can give her a complete makeover and help her be a part of the cool kids.
It is August 5th, the day Stacy comes to visit Keisha, and Keisha is so excited for her makeover and her new transformation. The first thing Stacy does is takes Keisha shopping. "If you want to be popular, you either have to set the trend or follow the trend but first, you have to get rid of those old rags you have" says Stacy. After they left the mall Stacy took Keisha to the nail salon to get her nails done then the beauty supply store so she could fix her hair. Since Stacy arrived later than expected she told Keisha she would do her makeup and hair tomorrow.
It is now the next day and as promised, Stacy began to do Keisha's hair followed by her makeup. While fixing her up, Stacy informs Keisha that being popular is not about letting others take advantage of you but you just being yourself and you don't even have to pretend to be anybody you are not. "You just need to open up a bit and quit being so anti and you will make friends girl" implies Stacy. Stacy taught Keisha how to do her makeup and in just a couple of days she had the routine down packed. A few days have passed and it was now time for Stacy to head back home.
High school starts in a few days and Keisha is determined to not be the girl who sits with the snobs during lunch time. She just cannot be the same boring Keisha they all knew from middle and elementary school. From the moment Keisha stepped foot on the school bus to the school's campus heads turned and whispers started. Keisha just knew she had it going on. The first week of school was basically the same as they always been. You know, Keisha going to school, back home then jumping straight on the internet.
The second week of school was when things changed. Keisha thought, "hmm, if no one is going to say anything to me, then I will be the first to talk." She did just that. She was now starting to make friends and no longer had to eat lunch by herself anymore. She had a few classes with Jason who is the hottest football player at the school and she had heard that he and his girlfriend had broken up so she decided to give it a shot. Although she was still a bit shy about asking guys out, she was now friends with Jason's sister, the most popular girl in school so she began telling his sister how much she liked her brother. Word got around to Jason and him and Keisha became close friends.
Weeks and months had gone by and Homecoming was quickly approaching. Keisha felt that since she was part of the "popular crowd" she could now do something she always dreamt of, that was running for Miss Homecoming. After school one day, Jason's sister,
