High ethical standards entail that, both individuals and businesses are to correspond to sound moral principles (AIU Online, 2012). The principles and standards of business ethics encompass and lead behavior in the field of business. Culture within business affects the ethical standards and influences the behavior of the labor environment tremendously (August, Mayer, & Bixby, 2009). Moral principles and values in a business field relate not only to the actions and consequences of human conduct but to the ethical developments as well. Thus, influencing and impacting various social groups. Each area of the world is very distinctive and holds individual principals and standards (August, Mayer, & Bixby, 2009). One common characteristic each business possesses is the competitiveness to outdo one another thus, challenging one's ethical standards and principles (AIU Online, 2012).
A business' principals and standards and its behavior can be adversely affected by culture (AIU Online, 2012). In many countries, business' find themselves influenced by bribery. Many of these businesses choose not to partake in bribery, seeing it as unethical behavior, forcing many of them to go out of business (August, Mayer, & Bixby, 2009). Much of the unethical behavior and bribery is the consequence of underpaid government officials.
The idiom of a business must base its values and behaviors on the actions of its members and itself. A business must build its organization on honesty, proficiency, attentiveness, fellowship, and stewardship to be a representation of, affirmative ethical standards and ideologies (August, Mayer, & Bixby, 2009). The values of a business can be established through credibility, assurance, and respect for diverse cultures (August, Mayer, & Bixby, 2009).
Businesses that choose to partake in corrupt international dealings do not operate by ethical standards. Laws are set in place to govern and reprimand any unethical or corrupt behavior in International business transactions (AIU Online, 2012). Each country establishes its own individualized laws and regulations that individuals and businesses must abide by. There are many communal laws and regulations that are appointed throughout every country, such as various types of fraud, drug trafficking and money laundering (AIU Online, 2012). When businesses partake in these behaviors, they violate a principle of legality. Businesses and/or individuals that engage in corrupt dealings such as bribery violate all morals and values, which could become detrimental their image and increase the severity of consequences (August, Mayer, & Bixby, 2009).
From a utilitarian perspective, it's the obligation of an organization and/or officeholders to operate a business without paying for bribes. According to the Foreign Corrupt
