The current homeowner constantly has a list of items they want to fix or upgrade, and many homeowners perform these upgrades themselves. Although the homeowner has the will to perform the work themselves (the DIY), there is always the question of how to solve the problem. And that is where the situation can get more complicated. With the choice of going to a home supply store, and hoping for a person who knows something about the area of the store they were assigned to, or surfing the internet, with a myriad of websites, blogs and videos, it can be time consuming not only to find a solution, but find the most robust solution that can quickly be employed by the homeowner. A better way to get quality information is needed.

Our company, Home Research Tool, Inc. is a company that provides a set of products that can meet this market need by providing the homeowner a quality solution to their home project question, with the level of support that desire, and can be backed by varying levels of warranty, to create high level of confidence from the customer. In order to fully understand our company and its products, let's dive into four aspects of this business in order to better understand the viability of this product: the people, product, the company and the competition. Firstly, our research has found that most DIY people only complete 3-5 projects a year, so this product is not for those who are trade experts, but for those, who either for self-fulfillment, or for the financial advantage, chooses to do the project themselves, rather than contracting the work. In addition, more that 80% of the respondents of our survey spend around $500 to $2000 per year on projects. In addition, with the increasing amount of households being dual-income households, time is even more valuable than in the past.

Our company will be providing three levels of products that will cater to the varying needs levels for the customers, with an emphasis on the quality of the solution on the mid and high level of products. With respect to the price of the product, although $39.99 may seem like an expensive solution, our research has indicated the people put a high value on a quality solution, and are tolerant to paying more for a better product. See the below table for the product levels and their features.
