In recent years, the phenomenon of gays or lesbians is becoming more normal in many parts of the world. Since gays or lesbians do not have the ability to give birth to a child, the problem of gay or lesbian adoption appeared and has been hotly argued all around the world.
Adoption by same-sex couples is currently legal in many countries throughout the world. And I also agree that homosexual adoption should be accepted.
Firstly and fundamentally, it's an issue concerned human rights. People can not deprive them of their right to be parents just because they are gays or lesbians. Everyone is equal in the right to love somebody.
What's more, many children are in need of homes. Meanwhile, there are the homosexual families who want a child. So allowing homosexual adoption may be among the effective ways of easing social burden of raising these children.
Parenting ability is unrelated to sexual orientation. Some people may claim that children in same gender families may develop bad outcomes. But it is just sort of assumption with no solid supports. It is family processes (such as the quality of parenting and relationships within the family) that contribute to determining children's well-being, rather than family structures. It is well-established that both men and women have the capacity to be good parents. Lesbian mothers do not differ from heterosexual mothers in parenting ability and gay men may be similar in parenting ability to heterosexual men.
Nowadays, some experts or institutions hold negative attitude to same-gender adoption which misleads people to believe that homosexual adoption is not acceptable. But we can not avoid that these certain experts or institutions have their own positions-economically or politically. Besides, the beliefs or values they base their research on are not necessarily accurate.
Heterosexual families usually have a bread-winning father and a stay-at-home mother. But in homosexual families, it is more likely that both of the parents will go out to work. So they are able to provide a comparatively stable economic environment for children.
We can not deny that problems such as drug abuse are more common among gays or lesbians. But we also we can not deny that such problems also exist in heterosexual families. At the same time, there are such systems established by governments to ensure those homosexual families are qualified for raising a child. We are not just throwing those homeless children to a homosexual family without any concern.
Same-gender adoption is not so common now and many problems are still under discussion. The systems of adoption are also undergoing improvement. We don't have ample evidence to say this is definitely harmful or wrong. What's more, it shows some benefits to society, children and gays or lesbians. Why not give it a chance.
