Executive summary
Majority of firms in the recent times is faced with human resource management problem. In this case, Hoopla media group a web marketing firm is currently at risk of losing customers as a result of selfish acts from its once loyal staff. The principal problem is that Evans, who is the company's website designer contractors, has taken a contract directly with Jewel works Inc and the project has failed to meet the standards. Jewel Inc is a significant client to this company and failing to satisfy them would lead to hoopla media group losing them as their customers. Greenspoon, who is the company's manager, is at a dilemma on what is the best course of action to take.
Kyle Evans has been one of the most promising contractors in this company. Jewel Inc is also among the major clients of Hoopla media group. The jewel Inc is aware that they failed to follow the right procedure, in contracting Evans instead of Greenspoon, sand should not blame the company for the failed exercise. However, Greenspoon knows that failure to intervene in the process will lead to low quality design and risks losing jewel Inc who is one of the company's greatest clients.
Putting into consideration the level of competition in the industry, Hooplah Media Group must work round the clock to maintain its customers. The company must also keep hold of its experienced employees like Evans in order to continue offering high quality services to customers. Greenspoon must therefore, make a crucial decision on whether to assist in the completion of the website or not.
Statement of the problem
The human resource management problem experienced by Hooplah Media Group is what to do with Evans. Greenspoon being a prime shareholder of this advertising company is in a dilemma on whether or not to participate in completion of the website belonging to JewelWork limited. Since the company's objective was to provide innovative and creative online marketing services to customers, the management was obliged to offer quality to JewelWork inc. Evans had acted against the company's policy, and this posed a serious threat to thriving of the company (Gatewood, Hubert & Murray, 2011).
The short term problem is to rectify the problem with the marketing website for the JewelWork inc. It is always the objective of this company to sustain and retain its customers. Fixing and ensuring a smooth running of this website will prove vital to both Evans and Hunt. Grenspoon main concern is maintaining a mutual relationship with its customers.
Kyle Evans is also the company's campaign manager and Greenspoon is faced with a challenge of keeping him in the company. This is because he had contacts with many of the company's clients and losing him would prove suicidal to the success of the company. Evans can decide to walk away with several of the clients belonging to Hooplah Inc. By losing Evans; the company could also face a problem in recruiting an experienced and capable replacement. This would be a backward step for a newly formed merger.
Kyle Evans is treated as an extremely valuable asset to the company as he had extensive industry experience. He had also worked with several global advertising agencies, and therefore, had the capability of using this experience to the success of Greenspoon's business. This was a long term problem for the business as its long term plans of having a larger consumer base would be at risk. His skills and understanding in the marketing industry were essential for the business development and future growth.
Analysis of the problem
Greenspoon business is not ready to lose its customers and experienced manpower at the moment. This is because of the technicality and the nature of the industry. The performance of online marketing and e-commerce is a pure dynamic field faced with numerous twists and turns. For this reason, innovativeness, professionalism and business ethics remain core factors for success in this field. This calls for maintenance of customers and employees that will cope with these dynamics. Losing either the clients or Evans would be detrimental to the functioning of the company.
Failure to make proper resolutions will lead to some economic losses. For example if Greenspoon decides to fire Kyle Evans, the company will incur other costs in recruiting and training new employees. A lot of economic time is also expected to be lost during this transition period. Other costs may be incurred in advertising as the company seeks to acquire new customers. The company also risked losing the projects with JewelWork websites which required regular updates. Change of technical staff would prove costly because such updates would be exceedingly difficult to achieve. This calls for sound and proper decision making for the management of the company.
Kyle Evans had previously worked exceptionally well with Greenspoon and had excellent results together. Hunt also confesses that Kyle had represented Hooplah companies with the utmost respect. He also puts across some justifications to his actions although are not very satisfying. This is also expected to pay a vital role in determining the final decision. Greenspoon is also confident that Hunt is likely to engage Hooplah Media Group in its future project, regardless he helps in completion of the project or not.
