Hospitality Information Systems and Users
Oracle is one of the top three developers of technology software. "Oracle is the gold standard for database technology and applications in enterprises throughout the world--the company is the world's leading supplier of information management software and the world's second largest independent software company....". (Oracle). One of those applications is PeopleSoft.
PeopleSoft is the world's leader in providing software solutions for hospitality companies. PeopleSoft's Internet software enables hospitality companies to increase productivity by directly connecting customers, partners, suppliers, and employees to online processes. PeopleSoft's applications include: Customer Relationship, Supply Chain, Human Capital, and Financial Management functions that are fully integrated. Roughly 4,800 companies in over 140 countries run some form of PeopleSoft software (PeopleSoft (2002).
PeopleSoft's integrated software packages permit managers to effectively make decisions regarding cost controls, customer relationships, and adequate training of staff.

Operations
The organizational alignment audit is a useful managerial tool as it provides a framework for why alignment is vitally important and what an aligned organization should look like and feel like through the perception of employees. When results are acted upon, assessing the perspective of one's employees relative to staffing policies, procedures, and systems are aligned with the organization's mission, strategies, and tactics is a critical step.
JW Marriott once said an organization cannot make happy customers with unhappy employees. When one examines the meaning of this statement the result is; employees will not be committed to the stated mission unless company procedures, policies, and systems are aligned with the mission. If what management says, and does not line up with the mission, then attitudes and behaviors are not likely to line up either (Crotts, et al. 2009).
Marketing
The marketing department is responsible for aspects of delivering advertising for a company making it as visible as possible on as many platforms as possible. This visibility is vital within the hospitality industry where competition is high and maintaining loyalty from customers is just as important as attracting new customers.
The methods of attraction include radio and television advertising, billboards, printed materials such as in-house pamphlets or brochures, an organization's website, and more recently the booming use of social media. The marketing department would likely use many software applications for this task and rely on an application like PeopleSoft to track and store information on consumer trends.
Accounting
PeopleSoft tracks and compiles accounting information and uses components of another Oracle application: JD Edwards accounting software. The software permits the organization to account the daily financial transactions of the industry. JD Edwards incorporates with two other applications to permit the user to access departments. The software permits the accounting department to account operating costs, accounts receivables, and allocated costs precisely; moreover, the software enables the department to arrange accurate payments or credit memos to their vendors or consumers.
Human Resources
Numerous hospitality companies have used PeopleSoft, an Oracle software application, to operate the human resources department within their respective organizations. The program enables human resource staffers to manage employee files while maintaining and acting in accordance with applicable employment laws, and follow accepted guidelines.
