Huntsville Project Week 3 Essay Question

This project will meet the Board of Directors June 30, 2012 deadline, initially when I plugged the tasks into Project I thought oh my god we are never going to meet this deadline; but then I thought although the project layout and time frames tell a different story; I am confident that we can meet the deadline if we make the following changes:
According to the Project schedule, the duration of the project is 64 weeks; of which 40 weeks are dedicated to the construction of the building, there are a couple of options that can cut this time considerably. The first option would be to hire an additional contractor with twice the man power we could cut the construction time in half; or another option would be to purchase an existing plant. Purchasing an existing plant would require the Architect to design the facility around the building's structure. The Project Manager went with purchasing an existing plant from Rubbermaid, she submitted the changes in the planning phase, and had them approved. The reason for going with an existing plant was because she didn't want to sacrifice quality for time. The procurement of an existing site decreased the planning phase by six weeks putting the project back on track. The following resources are over allocated Facility Specialist, Personnel Director, and Real Estate Consultant. However in the Planning Phase we were approved to procure an existing plant this will alleviate the over tasking of the RC, and it has also alleviated some tasking for the FS (i.e. procuring a building site and constructing a building) now the RC and the FS can work on recruiting management personnel and training them. And as for the PD the RC was selected in the planning phase so the pressure is off for selecting a Real Estate Consultant he can reallocate his time between creating the pre-production plan and recruiting personnel for the plant. The RC and the FS now reallocate their time and stay within the project duration time.
