  Nowadays both students and teachers are aware that the use of appropriate learning technique could help the students to achieve a better learning outcome .This is a fact that if a suitable learning technique is being used by the learners, it will help the student to became more enthusiastic with studying and increase the confident of the candidates during the exam.  To sum up, this is very important for every student to discover the most effective learning technique for himself as it can aid the student to become more confident and help them to tackle the pressure of sitting for exam.

  In this paragraph the learning technique which are being introduced have been proved to be very useful for most people. The learning technique is practice testing and it refers to the use of flash card or completing practice questions or problems in order to help the learner to better understand the knowledge that he /she has learned. This is a good way to learn and reinforce the information that is required the learner to memorize as the learner went through the practice questions, he/she may be able to recap the correct answer of the practice testing question and apply the appropriate knowledge in the future examination. This is proved by Dunlosky et al (2012) who stated that  performances was better following a practice testing than follow restudy . Therefore, it could be assume that practice testing is probably more effective than other learning techniques because when the practice testing is completed and this could allow the student to identify the topic or question that he/she failed to answer and being capable of doing some revision on the question that failed to answer correctly.

  Moreover, there are more benefits of practice testing to the students. According to Hartwig & Dunlosky (2012), the practice of the learning technique of self testing and rereading both prove to have a positive impact on the GPA (grade point average) and self testing ,rereading and scheduling of study have a vital relationship in real world with the student academic performance. This is very exciting to know that the result of the research on the relationship between the GPA and self testing is closely related and has a positive correlation. On the other word, student who apply this learning technique are probably doing well in most of the exam. It can be argued that self testing is one of the learning techniques which can help the students to achieve better grade in the exam.

Furthermore, there is two aspects which need to take into consideration for the learner who used this strategy. The two aspects are referring to the dosage and the timing of the self testing. It is because these two elements play an important role on the effectiveness of self testing. Dosage refers to the number of self-testing being done by the learner and timing refers to the time interval between the self-testing and the real test or the time interval between the knowledge is being learn. Karpicke& Rodeiger (2006) suggested that” testing should occur soon after learning and be repeated in a massed fashion, because multiple test promote better retention than a single test”. (pp190). It is good to test oneself after a learning of some new things as this can help the students to better organize the knowledge that he has learned and enhanced the learner memory after the practice test. Dunlosky et al (2013) stated that refer to the number of practice testing, the more of it should help to create a better outcome. Student should not be surprised with the conclusion being made by Dunlosky. This is because students should understand the fact that there is no free lunch in the world, so hard work is essential to success. In addition, there is no harm for the student to do ore practice testing. This is because the students could actually benefit from repeated the similar question during the practice testing. It would give a clear advantage to the student who uses this technique during the exam as they can become more familiar with the question and being able to answer the question confidently and may have more time for checking. It would seem to be a perfect solution for those who always complaint that the examination periods are too short and help to reduce the anxiety and fearfulness of not being able to complete the test paper on time. Due to the above the reason, it could believe that students would benefit from this learning technique not only for the academic one but also help the student to relieve the pressure of sitting exam.

  In addition, the learner usually benefits from self testing as it could aid the learner to enhance the memory of the knowledge or information which has been tested in the practice testing. According to Kornell &Son (2009) “It allows learners to accurately diagnose what do and do not know.” (pp.493). It is generally accepted that people can become more successful in life only when he/she is able to learn from the mistakes that he/she has made. It seems to be very clearly that it is better to make a mistake on practice test rather than the real test. So, students can actually diagnose the topic of the subject which he finds difficult to answer and increase the revision on the topic. It should help the students to avoid the same mistake again in the final test. Furthermore, the result of the student might show a great improvement as the students are equipped with the knowledge that he/she might not fully comprehend at first but after the corrective measurement has take place for the self testing, he/she should be able to answer those question confidently and gain a higher mark in the test.

  Last but not least, the used of self testing as a learning technique could help the students to better organized the knowledge that he/she has learned. It seems to be difficult for students to answer the structure or essay question in an organized way due to the pressure and the anxiety of sitting for the particular subject which he/she felt extremely hard. The problem could overcome by doing more practice testing as this has suggested by Hunt (1995, 2006) cited in Dunlosky et al (2013)”evidence also suggests that practice testing may enhance how well students mentally organize information and how well they process idiosyncratic aspects of individual items, which together can support better retention and test performance”.(pp.30). In conclusion it is very crucial for students to well organize their mind to answer every essay question in the exam. This is because if the students fail to do that it could had a disastrous effect on the result of the students as he/she may not had enough time to check or even finish the exam.
