The United States government should definitely favor some immigrants over other immigrants to a certain extent. However, there has to be a balance. If the oppressed immigrants had complete priority over the wealth of this country, we as a nation would suffer primarily due to a lack of funds. We would suffer a lack or loss of funds because the funds would be used to get the oppressed settled into their new lives.
Having the rich be considered top priority would in a sense benefit the country from a business point of view. However, prioritizing the wealthy would be morally wrong to the less fortunate individuals who dream of coming to the United States to fulfill their dreams of hope and prosperity. These individuals also dream of coming to the United States to escape the torture or torment of their everyday lives, such as poverty, diseases, and cruel or corrupt government systems.
Every human being should be created equal, and given the chance to make his or her dreams come true. There are special circumstances in the equality of immigrants. If individuals and/or their families are in extreme danger of being killed for unjust reasons such as personal opinion or dislike, then their safety should take priority over other individuals; as opposed to someone simply coming to the United States for leisure with no extreme or life threatening urgency.
In essence, no country should be given a priority over another. Doing so could cause strife with other countries and problems for the United States. Giving certain countries priority could also result in higher percentages of racism and feelings of doubt about our country being the land of the free and all for equality, because granting certain countries with dominant races priority to enter will indicate that we favor certain races, which would seem as though they (the dominate race) are better than other races.
