Importance of Immigration for the United States

Like developed countries, the United States has same problems about legal immigration. Many immigrants have strong reasons to emigrate from their countries. Furthermore, developed countries have strong reasons to accept immigrations too. There are two different points of view about legal immigration. Some people believe that government of the United States should increase legal immigration. Another people believe that government of the United States should not increase legal immigration. As far as I am concerned, government of the United States should increase legal immigration. I have many reasons to defend this opinion.

The most important reason is that some of the most intelligent and ambitious individuals, who are unsatisfied with their own countries, bring their skills to America. You can start your own business, learn a high-tech career, becomes a movie star, publish a best selling novel or elect to office. People in other countries crave the same things we do: recognition, wealth, fame, and the feeling of making a difference. Many countries of the world limit educational opportunities and prevent individuals from reaping the rewards of their hard work. Consequently, such individuals often come to America. In fact, ambitious immigrants chance a high risk to create new life an unknown future. America cannot help but become better from the influence of such people.

The second important reason is that immigrants often have taken the low-paying jobs like food service, wash dishes, housekeeper, pick up garbage, or hotel cleaning that most Americans do not want to do at such low wages. Someone must do these types of jobs, but employers consistently have trouble finding regular employees to do the work. According to Americans, a wage of $5-$7 is usually too low to induce them to take and stay at such jobs. However, immigrants believe that they who may be lucky to earn $5 a day in their native countries are more than willing to work these jobs.

In short, after taking everything consideration, government of the United States has many important reasons in order that it should increase legal immigration. The United States has a large gravity for many immigrants because of its booming economy, and business and education opportunities. I think that many immigrants prefer to come to the United States, if they were given a choice, would take the risk in coming to America to achieve something better. In addition, the United States was built and has grown on the backs of such people. Therefore, the United States should be able to continue to realize the value of this opportunity.
