William Bradford's From Of Plymouth Plantation, Book I chapter IX page 43. It is recorded in Scripture 2 as a mercy to the Apostle and his shipwrecked company, that the barbarians showed them no small kindness in refreshing them, but these savage barbarians, when they met with them (as after will appear) were readier to fill their sides full of arrows than otherwise. This part references Acts Chapter 28. The verse references when the Pilgrims have reached the wilderness of the new land. The reason this one stood out to me was when we deploy to foreign lands this is how we are seen. We are looked on as barbarians and we look at the multinationals as barbarians as well. I think the main reasons we look at them as barbarians and the same with them looking at us is what we see on the news and TV.
Part II

Each storm his state, his mind, his body break; line 200
From some of these he never finds cessation, line 201
But day or night, within, without, vexation, line 202
Troubles from foes, from friends, from dearest, near'st relation. Line 203
Line 197- Humans at their best can be weak and self centered
Line 198- Even though we are smart we lack common sense, even though we are physically strong we are mentally weak.
Line 199- When our hearts experience sadness it makes us weak.
Line 200- Each loss can break us, body, mind and soul
Line 201- We can sometimes never find an end to the grief
Line 202- Every day we become angrier
Line 203- Problems occur between our friends and families
The reason I chose this stanza was I feel humans natural follow these traits, portrayed in the stanza. Humans also do selfless acts to help people at times but I feel like at the end of the day we care about ourselves before anyone else. I also feel this way sometimes.
