Internal and External Customers
The hospitality industry is a huge industry that offers a multitude of amenities for the guests. These organizations market their businesses with many types of marketing and business strategies. A business strategy is defined as "A detailed plan for achieving success in one part or all parts of a business" (Cambridge Dictionaries Online, 2012, p. 1). A look into three hospitality organization within different fields; Southwest Airlines, Carnival Cruise, and Hilton Inn are going to be examined. This paper will also include evidence and contrast between proactive and reactive strategies and the business strategies for internal customers, or employees, demonstrated by the resources on the employment page.
Southwest Airlines
Business strategies
Southwest airlines has welcoming home page to its career section. When a person clicks on the career link of southwest, he or she is brought to the careers home page. On this home page southwest state, "Not Just A Career, A Cause," they continue by stating, "At Southwest Airlines you have the freedom to be creative, dress casually, and have fin on the job. Employees also enjoy free travel privileges, and great benefits like Profit Sharing, matching 401(k), medical and dental" (Southwest, 2012, P. 1). This is the first thing any person sees when he or she is brought to this page. Southwest pulls people in by telling them that this job is not only fun, but also has perks that included medical, dental, free flights, and more. This strategy can capture the interests of many people who need more than just a job that will pay him or her well, but that will also help secure these individuals and their families for the future. The website continues with a brief introduction to the Southwest Star of the Month. Southwest is showing yet another advantage of being an employee for the airline. People want to be recognized for the hard work that he or she does. Southwest shows that if a person works hard he or she could get his or her face on the website and be recognized for everything that has been done or being done currently. The next item a person sees is the benefits of working for Southwest. The interested individuals can click on the benefit section and read about each benefit Southwest has to offer the employees. There are also sections on internships, diversity, military, and applicants with disabilities that can be read about to learn more information on these subjects. Southwest offers individuals to read about the airlines position on the airport, the phone, the plane, fly the plane, in the hanger, headquarters, technology, flight support, and again internships. People are offered to read about the culture of Southwest and read employee success stories and direct quotes from individual employees. Southwest has designed the career website to show many aspects of the organization that will help individuals make a decision whether or not this airline is a right choice for them.
Carnival Cruise

Carnival Cruise uses a slogan that states, "Fun For All, All For Fun" (Carnival Cruise, 2012, P. 1). Carnival offers many types of career opportunities. Carnival breaks down the careers into two sections; hotel operations and Marine and Technical. The hotel operations include careers in food and beverage, housekeeping, entertainment, laundry, accounting, ect. The Marine and Technical section includes careers in the deck and engine departments. When an individual chooses which of these areas interested him or her, he or she is brought to the next page that gives a description of the positions and what this position is responsible for. Carnival is very different in their business strategies compared to Southwest. As stated above Southwest pulls the people in with actual people quotes and success stories, free bonuses for being an employee, and all of the benefits that come along with employment for Southwest. Carnival has their career page set up to inform the possible employees the jobs. There are different sections that one can click on to see the benefits, and fun news; however, it is more matter-of-fact.
Hilton Inn
Business Strategies
Hiltons Inn is a worldwide hotel with jobs in Asia, Africa, Canada, and more. When a person first goes to the career page for the Hilton the first thing stands out is the elegance of the website and wording. The words that top the page state, "Join the most recognizable hotel brand in virtually every region of the world" (Hilton Worldwide, 2012, p. 1 ).
