Is retro and vintage making a comeback?

You’ve probably heard the saying ‘Everything old is new again’. The same can be said about the designs and design trends. Many of the old styles eventually come back in fashion and that can be regarded as modern retro and vintage. Modern retro gets its name from style that is very throwback but not very far back like from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s.

Retro and vintage theme is an exciting, lively and a great window into the past. Retro is combination of modern and traditional culture and clothing. Whoever prefer the combination of modern and traditional clothing will love this style.  Retro and vintage are becoming a new trend now. This trend is not only becoming popular in fashion but even in a variety of accessories, furniture and other design context. In Pakistan, it is observed that the clothing brands are applying the old-style elements to their work like using bright and vibrant colors to create a theme of 70’s and 80’s. It is not only seen in the clothing line but even in the furniture stores and different accessories stores like Haroon’s, Designers Guild, Heaven Furniture etc.

In this style sense retro and vintage nerd and geek designs are making a comeback. The nerd and geek designs was to be pictured as a skinny teenage boy or girl wearing big wired rim frames and was mainly named to be a four-eyed loser. But now this theme is more of a swaged person like if someone is wearing big round framed spectacles is in vogue.

Talking about vibrant and bright colors like neon, yellow, orange etc. are more to be found in shirts, shoes or dresses. People are now fairly adopting these colors as these are a clear symbol to the retro theme. Not only these colors represent this theme but even bell bottomed jeans, poodle skirts, funky jackets, leather handbags, chiffon scarves and chokers are becoming a trend. This trend is followed and adopted by the majority.

If we consider the makeup it may also play a major role in feminine retro fashions. The perfectly done winged eyeliner shows how much the present world is inspired by the old-fashioned looks. These days everyone is in a race to have that perfect wing just to be in vogue. Retro can also be seen by looking at the lipstick colors used by the models. Bright reds, hot pink,

purples, golds and even blacks are now used as lip colors in different shoots without any shame. There is not only competition among the users to use these products but even the makers of these products like Loreal, Mac, Hudabeauty and Kylie are in immerse competition to fulfil the demands of the users.

Retro is always fun and light style. Its easy shapes and bright colors easily grab the attention of the users. I have witnessed myself how this colorful old style theme got the consideration of the audience and this is because of the designers like Nishat linen, Maria. B, Lakhany etc. These designers have worked real hard to get a positive response from the users of that product and now these designers are rocking the retro theme.

The top 5 comeback in this trend with a little modification are the dungarees. Now a day everyone is seen wearing this old fashion dungaree with pride and are bring back the environment of 80’s. The second top 5 trend is the suspenders. To look dapper boys, pull out leather suspenders. This give an idea of the rustic men with class. Skater dress with the floral print totally brings back the Diana’s look with a lot more essence and elegance. I just simply love the bowties on men. It just reminds of a 90’s cutie rather than the present macho man and that is forth in top 5 trends. The last is making an entrance in high waist pants. They have come back in a much more greater style than before and is liked by the majority.
