Laws are very important instruments for our society to maintain good order and discipline. The laws also sets out a system for resolving disputes by providing a basis for deciding the legal interests of the parties. (Melvin) There are many factors that need to be considered when disussing or describing how laws have affected everything in business and society. "Modern law in the United States regulates businesses and individuals is generally a combination of constitutional law, statutory law, common law, and administrative law at the federal, state, and local levels." (Melvin, 2011)
Businesses have had a large impact due to the way our laws have been established. "Laws have been able to serve as an important catalys for commerce by promoting good faith dealing among, merchants and consumers and giving some degree of reliability that can be considered in business planing and commercial transactions." (Melvin, 2011) The laws have been able to govern how contracts are established to provide better understanding of agreements. Businesses have to treat their employees in accordance with employment and labor laws.
The marketing portion of a business is constatly being scrutinized by laws because they have ensure that not only are federal laws are being abided, but also state laws, jurisdiction laws, and if advertisement is done overseas than possibly international laws. "Businesses will be highly involved learning how to apply legal theories in practice and recognizing that having legal awareness may present opportunities for proactive business planning and empowering business owners and managers to limit liabality, gain a competitive edge, and add value to the business." (Melvin, 2011)
