PART I:
View the display case on the main floor of the Learning Resource Center (LRC) - Mesa College Library by going straight past the elevators and café to your left. Select five (5) total items from the entire glass showcase two (2) from the first section, one (1) from the middle and two (2) from the last section on the right. Then read the corresponding information cards carefully located along the bottom of each segment of the showcase. Please note that there are no corresponding numbers on the display items however, you can determine which write-ups they belong to based upon the content descriptions.
Answer the following questions for each of the 5 items you selected.
1) Give a full description of each item (what does it look like, what is it made of?)
2) Identify where the item is from
3) What purpose does it serve, what is it used for?
4) After answering questions 1-3 for each item then give an overall statement discussing what you think about these artifacts and what they say about the people who made them?
Note: There's a short video monitor to the left of the showcase for all to view that shows how some of these artifacts are used in their indigenous cultural setting.
PART II:
View the artifacts displayed on the 2nd floor of the G-Building directly across from the elevator. Select 4 items of interest to you then answer the following questions.
5) Give a full description of each item (what does it look like, what is it made of?)
6) Identify where the item is from (if stated)
7) What purpose does it serve, what is it used for (if stated)?
8) After answering questions 1-3 for each item then give an overall statement discussing what you think about these artifacts and what they say about the people who made them?
PART III:
Answer for following questions from Chapter 2 of your Bennett book? Be sure to cite what page number(s) your answers correspond to.
1) Who were these first Africans in America and what did they carry with them?
