Just come is a romantic comedy which was worth the time of me traveling to North Miami Beach to see it and I haven't laugh so hard while watching a play in a long time. At first I was complaining like I'm only doing this for class and the ticket is expensive but I loved it. The play took place at Julius Littman theatre in a real theatre stage and it was very realistic and relatable. Dramatic journey in the lives of an immigrant family who migrated to America for a piece of the "American Dream". That hope would one day come to a halt as their freedom is threatened. The play takes a turn for the worst and this downward spiral would reveal, betrayals, flaws, hidden love and strength as this family unravel the pieces of their own mysteries.
Curtains were used to block off the backstage. The whole play was 4th wall never contacted or communicated with the audience. And the storyline was on point beginning with a family who struggling daily already and have to deal with immigration trying to deport them all but like any typical immigrant family they work hard to survived until one day the mother Ms. Joseph a nice well dress Haitian elderly women with a strong accent tried to convince the owner at the immigration office to let her family stay in Miami she works hard and a great citizen not knowing that this man Jackson hates Haitians and refuse to help. But his wife Ms. essence know how it feels to be unwanted with two parents who are in Haiti and can't get to America. She felt so bad to the point she stop showing up to work and puts her marriage in jeopardy. Jackson is very jealous and starts to send constant threats to her by leaving voicemails that he's going to find her and kill her. And as terrified as she is she feels in her heart she has to help this family avoid deportation. She slept in the car for days and spent most of her time at the joseph family home. She help all the siblings individually, her favorite was Peggy a young shy girl who attended Edison high school, but struggles with math. ms essence favorite topic was math when she went to school so she would help Peggy with her homework's and they became more closer and closer, and she help noel stayed out of trouble but the main character Mr. jean a young father the oldest the man of the house with a funny appearance spark her eyes. And had every drama in the book from a lot of kids to loud ghetto baby mothers. He loved him some essence to the point where she help him with his language, dress better, she became a stepmother and loved him so much that she help him and his whole family get there paper to stay in the us.
The play was very stageable Mr. Jean had the typical look of a Haitian father, his voice was relatable. The clothing was very tight the lighting was used to signal the beginning of the play. Used red light to show dramatic points. Had plenty of emotions, used music for every setting,
