"A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to put its pants on." In Salem, Massachusetts (1692), a witch trial was held which was filled with lies. The town had a Theocracy government, which didn't give everyone a fair chance. The whole town was in shock, everyone was either lying on each other or being lied on.

Rev. Parris was the priest of the town. He had lied about knowing that the girls were dancing in the woods. He also had known that Abigail was lying the whole time. He was protecting her because she was his niece. Even though she was wrong he decided to be faithful to his family. Though the fact that he mentioned everything but God doesn't mean he's a liar, its only proves he's a perpetrator. Technical that's a liar. You're lying about who you really are.

Abigail Williams was an emotional stubborn young lady. She was also an orphan. She had lived with Mr. and Mrs. Proctor. Abigail had an affair with John Proctor. Which caused her to be removed from the Proctor home. Abigail didn't like that Proctor had ended their relationship when she was caught dancing in the woods she saw opportunity to get all the attention off of her. She first had accused Tituba because no-one would believe a Negro Slave. Then she saw she could accuse Elizabeth. Abigail had everything to gain from lying. She could get the attention off of her and she could get rid of Elizabeth.

John Proctor was a strong farmer. Even thought he was strong , he was a sinner. Now being a sinner doesn't mean you're a liar. But when you lie about your sin, it does. John became a liar when he cheated on his wife because he kept this important information to himself. Until he confessed to his wife Elizabeth. After she found out she removed Abigail from her home. Elizabeth lied about the reason she removed Abigail from her home. She told Danforth, she asked Abigail to leave because she dissatisfied her. When the truth was because Abigail had an affair with her husband. She also lied when Danforth asked "your husband- did he turn on you?" saying "My husband- is a goodly man, sir". Which she indicated that he did not commit adultery.

Some people in Salem were lying about petty stuff. Mongrel Walcott lied of Martha. Mongrel charged Martha of witchcraft. She's only saying Martha is using witchcraft because she was sold a pig that died. Also she's claiming that her pigs only lives no longer than four weeks because Martha cursed her pigs. Another petty lie is told by Giles. He's lying on his neighbors. Accusing them of witchcraft, killing them off. He's killing off his neighbors to buy their land. Giles is the only one that can buy land , because he is the only one with enough money.

In Salem, Massachusetts witchcraft was new to everyone. It was heard of but everyone
