In the next morning, Madeline didn't come back. Everyone was standing or sitting in the house without a word. Clavel couldn't fall asleep last night without her naughty Madeline's nonstop questions.
Suddenly, the oldest girl Audrey heard a mouse's voice. Then, she looked towards the voice and saw Madeline with a lovely mouse in her hands. Madeline quickly made a gesture to her. Audrey nodded her head and smiled. Then, she whispered to Belle that Madeline came back and wanted to give a big surprise to Clavel.
Then Belle told this to other girls one by one.
Madeline opened the door of Clavel's room slightly and let the mouse go inside the room. Clavel was looking outside the window. Hearing the mouse's voice, she turned around at once and saw Madeline standing in front of her. Everybody started to laugh.
"Oh, God bless you, my dear," said Clavel with tears in her eyes. She opened her arms and embraced the little angel.
"You come back, my darling. You know, I had nightmares last night. I thought I could never see you again. Thank God. How did you get out of the river, my dear?" asked Clavel.
"I felt a stick and caught it. You know what, it's a huge root of a big tree. I used up all my efforts to manage to the bank. Over the bank was a wonderful garden. I saw a magic rabbit and I called him to help me out. It is him and his friends who help me out and they invited me to play with them in the garden. So I didn't come back last night," answered Madeline excitedly.
"Tell us about the mysterious garden, Madeline," said Audrey.
All the girls sat around Madeline and were ready for her story.
