I. Resolution: Because of the unequal opportunities for kids, and an overall need for sports in education pay-to-play student athletes should not have to pay to play.
II. We are against pay to play and the things it stands for. Pay-to play is basically the concept that kids should have to pay to play sports. Our first main point is unequal opportunities. Financially constricted kids would not be able to receive the same opportunities that richer kids receive. Calvin Davis(Director of sports for Chicago Public Schools) says if fees were charged to the less fortunate athletes in his district, some would quit teams or leave the school simply because they cannot afford the fees. Along with this those students who are athletically gifted that may not have the opportunity to excel in their sport. And these prices aren't cheap there are fees ranging from 300 to 700 dollars just to participate. This lead to less students deciding to less students playing and higher prices for those who are playing.
III. Our second point is that school is a very vital part of education. It keeps kids fit and it also teaches kids leadership, teamwork and how to build character, these are things that every kid needs in school. It also motivates kids to keep their grades up, this because when kids know that they if they work hard in school they'll be able to keep playing.
III. In closing I would like to say that the disadvantages of pay-to-play far outweigh the any advantages it may have. The Pay-to-play may have started with sports but it could quite easily be expanded to other areas such as art, orchestra, band etc.
