MARIE BOHM AND THE ASPECT GROUP

Structure, strategy, people, task and culture

The Aspect group is a well lubricated organization founded by Marie Bohm; this group consists of small team of home-based professionals with a few on-demand specialists who could be called in to fill specific client or project needs as they arise. To create this effective business, Marie summed up her personal views that personal is not just political but "personal is business, too", and a solid founding goal of developing a humane working environment, with enough flexibility for team members who shared the same value toward achieving work-life balance and quality outputs.

Marie Bohm is the main player of this flexible, organic team. Bohm recruited professionals, individuals of the highest quality, who were an excellent fit for the firm's flexible structure. She sought out people who have a high level of professionalism and reliability; people who possessed a positive attitude and good interpersonal skills. Due to the high level of freedom and autonomy encouraged by this structure, communication within team members was a critical factor and there was no tolerance for behaviors that were typically viewed as corporate politics or negativity; Marie gave direct feedback to those team members on these types of personality issues that upset the team chemistry and reduce productivity.

A core strategy was to bring in high-level work and attract the highest caliber of professionals that believe strongly in team cohesiveness, share values that created synergies and high expectations that focused on delivering quality work to the client, this foster accountability within the group; as opposed to pressure. Marie Bohm's ability to alignment her people and the cultural values of the organization is an absolute foundational principle and a key success factor for The Aspect Group, her ability to criticize positively, respect the professional opinion of others, encourage members to stay focus on task and bring jobs that not only trigger their interest but stimulate their creativity (while systematically controlling their excitement) cannot be overemphasized, She also focus on balance; plan everything well with enough breathing space this foster commitment, trust, honesty and loyalty.

The structure produced a number of business advantages; Lower overhead costs was achieved by the home-based approach as there was no office front to maintain along with some of the typical office associated costs like an IT function, leasehold monthlies and a receptionist. It provided an opportunity to deliver more value to the client, such as going to the clients' offices for meeting that saved their time. Hourly fees charged by Bohm to the client were also less than industrial average and the client get billed only for hours of actual work.

Not much need to change with the business
