Final Project Outline

Intro: Slide 2

  • During the creation of our company, we decided to enter into an existing market by mixing two of society’s most popular industries coffee and the internet.
  • The lounge and café offers a variety of state of the art computer pods as well as printing and scanning amenities, in addition to the complements of the in house café. Although this is an existing market we will be the first in Slippery Rock which will award us a pretty significant advantage.
  • Our goal in creating this company is to:
  • Attract a variety of different users, ranging from beginner to intermediate by providing a superior technological experience that is friendly to all.

Strategic plan and goal: Slide 3

  • The act of creating short- and long-term plans to take a company from where it is today to where its owners would like it to be.
  • Can include growth strategies, human resource development strategies, marketing tactics and internal goal-setting. In a general sense as a new company growth is inevitable, it is our company's best interest to focus our attention toward marketing tactics in order to build a firm and loyal customer base. As far as internal goals, we hope to merge the two markets successfully. With any new business there will always be sacrifices, so our main goal as far is this would be to attempt to grow the lounge and café as equals that support each other rather than cause negative impacts.

SWOT: Slide 4 on PowerPoint in table

Enterprise Solution: Slide 5

  • Net suite is a business management software suite offered as a service that performs enterprise resource planning and customer relationship management functions. Netsuite also offers a financial system that can connect to a company's in house sales and service processes.
  • Netsuite is mainly web based running on internet browsers; although data security is ensured through it, it has built in security controls and data center.

Enterprise Solution: Slide 6

  • We chose Netsuite because it suits our company’s needs, is easy to use, reliable and more affordable compared to its competitors.
  • We could implement the customer relations/business management portion first to get things running smoothly.
  • Then we would implement the financial systems to keep track of our business deals and sales.

Organizational Chart: Slide 7 on PowerPoint in table

Governance Board: Slide 8

  • We decided to have two main corporate officers.
  • CEO: we believe the CEO could double as the CFO since it is a small company.
  • COO: we needed to somebody to handle the daily operations and if we are to have to CEO double as the CFO take as much of the work load of him/her as possible.

Business Case: Slide 9

  • A superior and inviting environment that provides a place to study, for internet and printing needs or just to hang out with friends.
  • The result of this objective will be increased customer loyalty and in addition increased profits on a yearly basis.
  • Achieve this goal we are introducing the use of the netsuite system which offers erp functions as well as crm and financials to boost the efficiency of our company.
  • Instead of reducing prices to increase market share and volume, we figured that because there is no current competition in the market we have the ability set our own prices and achieve profit goals either way.

Business Case continued: Slide 10

  • The Costs to add a single computer fluctuates in the $2000 – 3000 to the $5000- $6000 price range. Our location has a total of 5 of our stream line computer pods, as well as 3 of our more advanced pods costing us approximately 25,500 to open the entire lounge.
  • Most cafes charge customers an average $6 to 10$ an hour to use their computer pod, we like those companies have flat rates although they differ from the two levels.  $8 for standard and $12 for premium, printing is based by the page.
  • To do so we will generate additional revenue and add to the atmosphere by offering fresh coffee and pastries at our in house café with prices comparable to your local Gloria jeans.

Implementation Risks: Slide 11

  • Because we are an internet cafe our technology has to be up to par. The bulk of our business is the computers and how they work. If our system is down or our computers are down we miss out on many opportunities to make money.
  • There is a daily expense to run our internet cafe.  Some of these costs include salary, wages, and maintenance.  If these costs are not updated correctly our business can fall through. If we don’t have the correct cost to fix our computers or the correct amount of money to pay our IT employees our business would not survive.
  • We are an internet cafe so our business is mostly about making sure our computer system is up to date. Our staff has to be knowledgable about our computers and our systems. If our staff can’t keep up with the system they can’t help our customers. If something were to go wrong with our systems we have to have employees with expertise of our technology.
  • If the software isn’t working smoothly with our hardware then the whole operation is at risk. Being an internet café, if the software places too much stress on the hardware and crashes they system, they customers will not be pleased
  • If the project isn’t on schedule the company will fall behind and the company won’t be able to get things up and running. If this happens then Rock Café would see a loss in revenue since we couldn’t open and we may lose our chance to break into the market.

Minimize risk: Slide 12

  • We can minimize this risk having reliable equipment. If we put in more money up front for our systems there will be less chance that our systems will need to be fixed or worked on in the long run, which will help minimize cost.
  • We as a business can make sure that we are calculating all of our cost correctly. We can cut down on our operating cost.
  • Our business can hire knowledgable staff that knows what to do when a system goes down or if a computer needs worked on. By having employees who know their job we can minimize our systems not being able to work.

Implementation difficulties: Slide 13

  • If the implementation is held up for any reason then we will have issues with the budget. There will be a lot of money going in to this process and if we are misled regarding price, service or quality or something goes wrong, it will be very difficult to work around.
  • As a business we already have to train our new employees, so to try and have them assist in implementing this new system would be a challenge.

Goals met: Slide 14:

  • We believe with the implementation of our new system we will meet all of our goals both operational and financially.
  • Overall, we believe this company would be successful.
