We live in a fascinating world and an even more fascinating society. We are part of a culture where every morning we wake up to the energized voices of the morning news crew, whose job is to make the rest of us as awake as possible, fill us in on the weather and inform the average individual on the hopeless traffic conditions. At the end of the day, exhausted and hungry you crawl home and your television, video games, computer are waiting patiently to be of service. In this age, life without technology feels utterly impossible, and life without the media is simply unimaginable. Media provides us with entertainment, information, and comfort. As the standard of living increases, we find people investing in digital cable and high speed internet connections increasing their exposure to media. But we have reached a point where media has a major influence on all aspects of our life, especially our dreams.
If we are to take a step back in time, in the fifties and sixties we come to a conclusion that most of the youth were influenced by Marilyn Monroe and Elvis Presley. Moving on, in the seventies we see the rise of Bruce Lee and Michael Jackson. As this timeline continues, we find that many of these artists have influenced the youth of their respective generations. The media, along with the artist's talent, brought these and many other artists to their high positions of popularity. The media at the same time also influenced most of the youth in how the artist's lives are so flawless and thus directing their dreams to revolve around them. If the media being at a highly basic stage at the time was able to do this so efficiently to the youth of those generations, how can the same thing not happen to us, especially since now the media is a part of our everyday lives?
