Medication Errors and Sufferings of Innocent People
Sometimes because of the physicians' sloppy writing and sometimes because of the carelessness of medical staffs; medication errors have been occurring constantly and innocent people getting victims of those errors. No matter how guilty a person feel, or how much they have been compensated or even if their license has been canceled, the fact is, the person who lost their life, or the family who lost their beloved one, does not get a new life, or a second chance to survive, after being victim of deadly dosing. It is not just not acceptable when a person dies, because of the inattention of another person who was actually supposed to save his/her life; especially, if its in the case of a little born who even did not get a glance of this beautiful world. No excuse or no reason can console a parent or a family. The matter of sorrow is when an error occurs, everyone get busy blaming each other instead of looking for its solution, or how it could be prevent in future. I think to prevent these errors in future all the physicians should use electronic media to provide the prescription; such as fax, email or printed prescription. If someone does not want to use technology, and cannot write clearly they should hire an assistant, who has clear hand writing, and will be authorized to transcribe the doctor's prescription. Every person related to medical field should realize that nothing should be more important than one's life. There is no point of regretting after destroying someone's life. As an employee of health occupation every single person, from the high authority to the lowest level needs to do their job efficiently, effectively and safely. If one person fails, the whole system breaks down. Everyone including the family members should keep in mind, to prevent these mistakes happening in the future, they have to do what is the best thing to do; regarding safety, sufficient staff or cost, because nothing can replace a human life.
