MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
KNOW ALL MEN BY THESE PRESENTS:
This Memorandum of Agreement entered into by and among:
The YOUTH FOR ENVIRONMENT IN SCHOOLS ORGNIZATION, an environmental club existing within Davao City National High School under the Department of Education, herein represented by its Moderator, SHERWIN FORTUGALIZA with official address at F. Torres St., Davao City and hereinafter referred to as YES-O;
and
Barangay 19-B, a local government unit existing under the Philippine Law with office address at Bacaca Road, Barangay 19- B, Davao City, represented herein by its Barangay Captain, LORETO G. NICOLAS;
- WITNESSETH -
WHEREAS, the YES-O as an environmental advocate under the Department of Education, aims to encourage community participation and initiative in environmental and ecological movements and actions;
WHEREAS, Barangay 19-B, as an LGU of Davao City commits to provide assistance in the implementation of development and extension programs particularly those which could be of benefit to the environment and the people living in the area;
WHEREAS, under the said National Greening Program, the DENR is mandated to initiate collaborative efforts with other Government Agencies, Academe / Schools including Private Sector and business community in order to generate support and encourage multi-sectoral participation;
WHEREAS, Executive Order No. 26 otherwise known as the National Greening Program (NGP) was issued by His Excellency, President Benigno Simeon Aquino III, having a goal for biodiversity conservation, climate change adaptation and in addition efforts of poverty reduction and food security by implementing sustainable reforestation projects that will include enhance Livelihood, environmental protection, education and public health;
NOW, THEREFORE, for and in consideration of the foregoing, the PARTIES do hereby agree to undertake its respective commitments under the following terms and conditions, viz;
ARTICLE I – OBJECTIVES OF THE ADOPT A COMMUNITY PROGRAM
- To develop, validate and promote an effective environment for the community for tree planting and tree parenting activities;
- To restore the forestry of Davao City community by community;
- To network with other government and non-government organizations in molding a greener community;
- To better parent the planted seedlings every tree planting done on the area;
- To promote environmental advocacies through actions done in the community;
ARTICLE II – TERMS OF REFERENCE
The agencies involved will have the following terms of reference:
Section 1. YES-O shall:
- Provide technical assistance in the implementation of the program.
- Facilitate the conduct of tree planting and tree parenting programs for the efficient and effective operation of the activities;
- Provide technology/information through speakers and materials for the tree planting and tree parenting activities;
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the program;
Section 2. The CSU as the PMA shall:
- Coordinate with the YES-O in the implementation of the program.
- Make its facilities available for the capability environmental activities of YES-O;
- Make its staff available (or other experts) for consultation, networking, training and related activities that may be needed by the tree planting and tree parenting activities;
- Provide logistic support in the operation of the tree planting and tree parenting activities;
ARTICLE IV – PERIOD OF AGREEMENT
This Memorandum of Agreement shall take effect upon the date of the Parties set their signatures on this document and shall remain in effect unless sooner terminated by mutual consent of all parties, provided a three month written notice by the Initiating Party shall have been fully served to other Parties.
