Critical Thinking
Thinking creates thoughts that inspire an idea within the individual mind and with the process of thinking thoughts are communicated into words that are expressed through sign language, speaking and writing. Perhaps, because of language barrier we concede that the human being is of higher intelligence than any other living thing, nonetheless, every living creature or mammal has the ability to think. It is my understanding that there are two basic thinking skills - creative and critical. I like to think of myself as a critical thinker! Critical thinking is a more in depth concentration of thought and the main ingredient is having the ability to think clearly and rationally. Critical thinking involves utilizing a combination of skills to include self awareness, open mindedness and discipline. A critical thinker is inquisitive, well informed and self confidence in one's own abilities to reason.
Individuals will do their own analysis of a problem or situation and eventually make a decision on the action that should be taken; consequently it may not be the best decision but it is their perception of what they think is right. Although, sharing your thoughts with others is always recommended because it lessens the possibility of being self righteous and it also allows you to see another individual's perspective or point of view. We are all subjected to emotions and we should not let them interfere with our decision making abilities. It is a known fact that decision should be based on reason and not emotion, when emotions get in the way it is difficult to think clearly much less make a sound decision.
In November of 2008 I was once again diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma. My
oncologist thought that it would be best for me to have a stem cell transplant using my own stem cell. The reason he gave me was that each time the disease comes back it will be harder to treat then before and with this procedures it would wipe it out altogether and I would not have to worry about the disease ever coming back. I was very skeptical about the procedure because my initial thought was "what if it doesn't work for me", the first treatment I had for the disease cures about 70% of the patient and I ended up being one of the 30% it did not cure. The procedures were to take my stem cells and blast the cell with the strongest chemo medications, freeze them and later inject the cells back into my body. I would be in the hospital for three weeks and after being release I was not suppose to interact with
