Mobile Phone Application: MHelpdesk

MHelpdesk mobile is an application that I personally use which is a mobile version of the ticketing system used to keep track of requests and transactions for my clients. MHelpdesk mobile is an app that helps mange work orders, invoices, service and repairs on the iPhone, iPad, and any Android 2.0+ device. The whole purpose of MHelpdesk is to have online secure software where a small to medium size business can create tickets when a call or email comes in from a customer and assign this ticket to any available technician. Create a service ticket, track it's progress, record notes, then invoice your customer. It works on your smart phone, laptop or desktop The application can be used with Google Calendar which then synchronizes with my mobile device advising me when the next appointment is scheduled an hour or two prior to the actual time scheduled.

From experience I was using previously Quickbooks online which was a free service and also had a mobile application as well but wasn't always functional when needed. Since I currently am the only employee in the business, I manage what would be considered every department within an organization such as the sales, marketing, accounting, etc. Quickbooks online pretty much did what I needed which is have a list of customers and send them an invoice after work was performed. Unfortunately, they only allowed a maximum of five customers in which was fine in starting a business from the ground up, but after having more than five customers a fee would be required to upgrade. The starting fee to use Quickbooks online was forty dollars a month. Doesn't seem to high until you calculate that for the year which four hundred eighty dollars and exceeds the actual smallest purchase for the actual purchase of the program at the store which is less than three hundred and I would be able to use it for more than just one year but not online. At this point is when I decided to make a change over to MHelpdesk!

MHelpdesk service was affordable ($20/month) and provided more functions than Quickbooks. Like any business, one has to leave room for expansion and with Quickbooks; I did not have that option unless it was simply to bill a customer and no more. Now I can create a ticket as someone calls me over the phone, I assign it to myself to keep track of my schedule so I don't double book an appointment, provide customers with an estimate if requested, create an invoice and accept the customers' payments. I can have software that keeps track of my customers along with their equipment that's being worked on, bill them and add other technicians when growing. The software is online so there is no need to install anything locally on my PC which gives me the opportunity to go onto any computer, logon and create a ticket and send an email or print the invoice along with accepting the payment. It provides a proven system that tracks every service and repair from start to finish. It organizes tasks, client notes, service details, and billing info neatly into one unified system. It's all designed to support you in delivering the best possible service to your clients.

As most applications, it's a work in progress and during the time of having the service they have modified the functionality of the software such as separating the estimates and invoices, the looks of the interface and being able to modify what you want or don't want to see when creating an invoice and/or invoice. They added not too long after I signed up mobile MHelpdesk which gives you the option to do what you would do online when it comes to creating a new customer, estimate, invoice and scheduling. There has been moments where creating a new invoice or accepting a payment, the application wouldn't make the changes but these glitches can be sent in to them and within a couple days they correct any problems that have been reported to them and an email is sent to everyone advising MHelpdesk customers of any new changes or even asking for suggestions to improve the software whether online or mobile.

I find there are several ways mobile applications can help run the business easier. Here are six key app categories that can benefit small businesses:

1. Manage customer relationships. Access all of your customer contact details, no matter where
