ABSTRACT:

With growing demand and the scarcity of conventional fuels, there is an increasing need to focus attention on renewable forms of energy.Among the nonconventional sources, solar and wind energy have a promising future. But, the major problem associated with these forms of energy is their intermittent and variable nature, which results in fluctuating power conditions. With the help of a hydrogen production unit, the fluctuating power from PV system,Wind turbine generator is absorbed ,and the hydrogen resulted from it, is used for production of energy using a fuel cell. A three phase inverter is used in conjunction with the system to feed AC power into the grid. The method proposed, provides us with a  means to maintain the frequency and voltage at a  constant level.A simulation model has been assumed that  an isolated island, where the existing fluctuations are analysed and with the proposed method, they are reduced to acceptable values. In hydrogen production unit, to control generating power fluctuation, we use the difference between average of generating power of wind turbine generators and PV system and  their standard deviation ,times fuzzy coefficient. In fuel cell, active and reactive power are controlled by using power electronic principles in three phase inverter. In this way,the voltage and frequency are kept constant.

As renewable energy delves its’ way into the power market in time to come, incorporation of this technology promises great results  as it eliminates the only seeming problem of intermittence and resulting fluctuation associated with such forms of energy.
