Moonrise Kingdom
Moonrise Kingdom was a wonderful movie. This film stars two children who are going through the beginnings of puberty, Sam and Suzy. Both are deemed by others as emotionally disturbed, and neither have any friends. The movie reveals these children to be independent individuals, which is something I can easily relate with, and allows me to enjoy this movie. This movie can interest both children and adults, which the ability to do so is something I treasure. Its plain to see that the directors were letting loose their inner child from the strange, yet cute scenery and surroundings.
Sam and Suzy are pen pals who live on a very small and quirky island. They fall in love instantly, make arrangements to meet up, and run away together. Sam is an orphan who resigns from scouts and Suzy lives with her somewhat of a broken family who she hates. Suzy resents her mother for having an affair with the town's one and only police officer. A search party is sent out to find the two runaway lovers. To add to the action, a big storm is brewing which may cause damage to the town.
Many other stars play in this coming of age, semi-romantic, drama making it a masterpiece. Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Bill Murray, and Frances McDormand all starring in the film. Although I would not recommend this movie to everyone because it somewhat bizarre, I enjoyed everything about it and will be watching it a thousand times more.
