Movies have influenced us all since created in 1951.Gangster movies are one of the most violent and influential. Lots of our teens think it's cool to be a gangster because of what they see in these movies. The flashy cars, jewelry and money that's a part of a gangster's life style is intriguing to most but, they don't see the consequences of what it takes for them to get those things.
Music videos are also very influential the exotic women half naked in these videos give our little girls the wrong idea of how to carry themselves like young women. For our young men it gives them the wrong idea on how to treat women. They also see all of the nice cars big mansions and most of the time it's staged. It gives them a false since of what it takes to become successful (which is hard work) and it doesn't come quick.
For most of our young boys mine included, wrestling is the worst .Some kids don't understand the real pain wrestlers go through even though it's choreographed. There have been numerous accidents, do to kids trying wresting moves on each other that they have seen on WWE or ECW. It has happen even with my kids and I believe it's more powerful than any movie or tv show that is on tv today.
Only parents can control what their kids watch. I think it's good to have them watch positive programs. The world is violent enough without the staged violence on tv or movies. Let's show our kids more positive things, more helpful things so, that they choose to be non-violent and more respectful.
Us parents can start by blocking certain channels and internet sites. We must slow down our lives so that our kids will be influenced by us and no a tv or a movie. We must talk to them and be their parents not their friend and not be a stranger. This way when they become young adults they know that what they see in the next big gangster movie or video is not the path they have to take.
