Question 1: What was the cause of fear in RBM?

Answer: The causes of fear in Ram Bali Mishra are all about his fear psychos about war. He used to think that if there is war then people in his country would be loaded with lot of sufferrings, killed, injured, maimed, and become homeless with lot of sorrows. He also feared that the economy of his country would be ruined, people would be injured with permanent handicaps, children would become orphans, women would become widows, and the entire humanity would suffer.

Question 2: What were the symptoms of fear displayed by RBM?

Answer: The fear symptoms displayed by RBM were as follows:

a. He looked pale and worried

b. He became less talkative, less lively and his interactons with other jawans decreased

c. He developed constipation, lost appetite and used to eat very little.

d. He felt tired even after walking a few hundred yards.

e. He became very weak.

Question 3: How did the RMO come to know of the war phobia of RBM?

Answer: When RBM was sent to the Regimental Medical Officer. The RMO inspected him and gave some medicines. After medically examining RBM, the RMO mentioned that there was nothing wrong medically with RBM except that he was scared of the prospects of war. During his medical examination, RBM even started giving a discourse to the RMO on the bad effects of a war on environment, economy, costs, etc. He stated that people would be loaded with sufferings; killed, injured, maimed, and would become homeless. The children would become orphans, women widowed, and the humanity would suffer. He vehemently advised the RMO to make all attempts to stop the war and if he could, at least oppose it. After a brief conversation, the RMO was convinced that all the symptoms pointed to a fear psychosis of war.
