MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING ANALYTICAL ESSAY
Much Ado About Nothing was written by the well-known English poet and story writer William Shakespeare. This humorous and emotional play is set in Messina, Italy during the 1600s, mainly focuses on the theme of honour and love, ruthless battles between good and evil. Throughout the play, Shakespeare illustrates different ideas and literary techniques to make the play flawless with expressions and the two lovers Benedick and Beatrice with the use of foreshadowing and emotional language; the author made them the hilarious couple that shows their affection only through an unusual fashion which made the play's purpose beyond plain entertainment. The story reaches its climax as Don John, the evil bastard was discovered of being the villain by Leonato, but Beatrice assumed Claudio was the villain and Benedick swore on his knees that he will challenge Claudio to a duel til death, until the truth was revealed that John was villain, everybody was misunderstanding each other and ashamed others and themselves by mistake.
In Much Ado about nothing, Beatrice is an intelligent, wise and bright woman. But she often speaks contemptuously to everyman that woos her. Making them look insignificant while elevating herself, Benedick is the only person that she felt of perfection and equality, therefore, Beatrice desperately desires his attention but since she cannot discover the correct path to approach him in a loving manner, instead, she humiliates Benedick as the delegation for her love. The use of this quote overpowers the intelligence of Beatrice, revealing her solicitous heart to the person she loves, not only this represents Beatrice is not a harsh, inflexible and stubborn woman, it displays she has confidence and pride about love and acknowledges when she knew that Benedick loves her back. "I thank God and my cold blood, I am of your humour for that: I had rather hear my dog bark at a crow than a man swear he loves me." This is another quote which was spoken by Beatrice when she was insulting Benedick, of course, Beatrice is a warm hearted lady; the quote displays hidden interpretations rather than its nasty actual meaning. From the first quote when Beatrice asked how Signior Benedick was, this is cohesive to the second quote, Beatrice disguised her love by saying my cold blood or I have not real feelings for love, and dog barks, when comparing Benedick to a dog, as other members of family assumes Beatrice has no appreciation about love.
During the play, Beatrice and Benedick gradually improves their relationship and through the use of emotive language, Shakespeare was able to develop
