My Christian walk started only a few years ago, but I have known about Christ all my life. It was often a road of ups and downs, with many struggles and much triumph. Our mother was a beautiful person she was semi-invalid and attended church when she could. I was brought up in a single family home raised by my mother. I had a twin sister and an older sister and two older brothers. My sisters and older brothers had an enormous influence on my search for Christ. The following paragraph will examine how my family and a few bumps along the way have led to me closer to Christ. My association with Christ began in 1960's during my early childhood. Like most young children, I attended Sunday school with my mother and sisters. My older sister was my Sunday school teacher for about five years. It was her influence at home and church that first brought me to know Christ. During my teen years, my older brother was an immense spiritual influence on me as he is today. My older brother was a minister of the Assembly of God church in the 60's. During this time, I would go and visit and stay a few weeks. I would help my brother prepare for his Sunday sermons, in doing so helped me understand and have a relationship with God. All this changed in the early 70's when I joined the service. It was a time of turmoil in our country, and I started to drift away from the lord because of the war. For twenty, years, I struggled with my faith up to the point I retired from the service. When I meet my wife 1998 my struggle with my faith started to come under control. Her inner light and strong faith in God made me feel and want to get in touch with the lord. Then in 2010 we started watching Joyce Meyers and attended one of her seminars. One morning in 2011 I awoke with an inner peace and knew I had been touch by the Holy Spirit. I began looking for a church and found the Church of God. That year I became baptized and longed to learn as much as possible about our lord God. Then in 2012 I enroll in Grand Canyon University for my Bachelor of Arts in Christian Studies with emphasis in Biblical Studies. Overall faith plays a large part in my being it has taken me through a lot of situations in my life. Through my journey, God has taught me to be committed, spend time with God through prayer and read his word. As I grow as a Christian I will learn to talk to God and how to hear from Him as well. God has a plan for all of us, for I believe it is to take what I have learned along with my experiences and pass it on to the youth of our church.
