1. Well for me high school has always been the worst years for me in terms of my educational achievements so when I look at this question I look at it from the perspective of a student who had a hard time in high school. Anyway back to the question I feel the main reason for the achievement gap is because of 2 things; family background and support and the environment in which we study.
2. As I said in my first statement the two main factors for the achievement gaps are due to the lack of family support and schooling environment. Family plays a big role because it's what gives us the motivation we need to try harder. If for any reason that family support is not there then it could lead to future problems in terms of focus in school or worse.
3. The teachers should understand that students come from very diverse backgrounds and some need more attention than others depending on how well the student focuses in the classroom. Many teachers make the big mistake of thinking the most successful students are the ones that do well in the class but often overlook the underachievers. It's only later in life that you will truly see how well each student has progressed. So in a sense all teachers good and bad should be treated with the same amount of focus, regardless of their attitude towards learning
1. I guess the only view in life that has significantly changed with me is that of religion. My Grandmother is a hardcore Christian but my mother has been difficult to define simply because she has taken me to every type of holy ground there is and my father is also difficult to define. At first I assumed he was some kind of Hindu then I realized later he was Jewish. So as you can see I have a very diverse religious background.
2. This helped me to change my perception of people in general in that at the end of the day we are all the same. Some of us believe in Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism and some of us believe in nothing. But at the end of the day even for someone who believes in nothing, that is still something.
3. This shows that everyone has a something that they believe in, even if those beliefs change over time but the concept of belief is still there.
I have shown resilience throughout my whole life. And for some odd reason I like the challenge. The best example I can give is when I traveled to Thailand against the wishes of my whole family and with a little over $1,000. When I got there I ripped my return trip ticket and decided I was going to stay for at least one year. After my first month I had no money left so I looked for anyplace that would hire me for work. I ended up working at a Massage parlor for about 2 weeks cooking food and helping to clean up the place. It was a very interesting experience. Afterwards I somehow ended up working for a school as a teacher and it went uphill from there.
