My Grandparents

Roast beef, gravy and roast potatoes, the meal that really tickled my taste buds every second Saturday. I loved seeing my grandparents, and they loved seeing me. I would arrive on Saturday evening to be greeted by an animated grandfather, opening his arms to give me a bear hug. We would then sit in the living room enjoying a bowl of Simba crisps.
Whenever I saw my grandparents, no matter what time of the day my grandfather would seem to always have a can of Castle Lager in his hand. I think the company made more money off him than the whole of Edenvale, the suburb in which my grandparents resided.
When we finally sat down to enjoy our feast my grandfather would go on about how times have changed since he was a kid and how he wished he was still my age. You would think that by the time desert was served he would have run out of stories. But he seemed to have a never ending supply.
Desert was my favourite meal of the day. My grandmother would pull out a home baked malva pudding and a five litre tub of Ola ice cream. No what the product my grandmother always insisted on buying in bulk, from toothpaste to Zam Buck. She said that it's pointless buying products in small quantities and a waste of time and money.
The times I spent with my grandparents are times I will treasure for the rest of my life. They have been a huge influence in my life and have always brought me up when I've been down, turned my frown upside down and played a huge part in my life's journey.
