i am from nottingham and i still live here now so it hasnt changed. the only thing that does change is that when i am answering the phone or i am with family members or talking to people more important than me i will try to avoid using slang to be more polite. However, when i am with my friends i will be more relaxed and be able to use slang because its normal to younger people and i will feel more in place. even though i am from nottingham i suppose i do use the dialect that is known from there such as 'cob' 'mardy' and 'twitchell', words that people from other citys arent aware of their meanings. i would also pronounce phrases differently such as 'Give it to me' i would say 'Gi's it 'ere' or instead of saying 'what are you doing' id so 'what ya doin' but without realising i was saying things in the non-standard english way. when i am speaking i fount out that i use a lot of fillers such as 'erm' or 'like' in convosations. I also use ellision a lot, this is when you slurr words together, for example 'going to' turns into 'gonna' i also use a lot of contraction, this is when words are shortned, like with 'boring' you drop the 'g' to pronounce it like 'boring'
